Havana – cars, rum and salsa

After breakfast, a meeting with your local guide and a visit Vedado district, where we will see the Coppelia ice cream parlor and have a drink at the legendary National Hotel, visited by celebrities. From here, we will start a tour of the city in an American convertible. We will drive through Malecón – Havana’s emblematic seafront promenade and meeting place for its inhabitants; the exclusive Miramar neighborhood with its Fifth Avenue full of embassies, El Bosque de La Habana (Havana Forest), Revolution Square and we will arrive at the viewpoint of the Morro fortress with a magnificent panorama of the city. Here we will also discover the secrets of Cuba’s two main export products – rum and cigars (possibility of shopping). Then we will see the area around the former Presidential Palace, which currently houses the Revolution Museum (from the outside) and have a lunch in the local restaurant. In the afternoon we will walk around Habana Vieja (old town) with its historical squares and places related to Ernest Hemingway: La Bodeguita del Medio bar, Cathedral Square and Arms Square – the place where Havana was founded, with the oldest fortress in the city and the Governor’s Palace. Afterwards there will be a one-hour salsa class with Cuban instructors near the Saint Francis Square and we will arrive at Old Square with its beautiful colonial architecture. From here we will head to Obispo street, which has numerous souvenir stores, bars and restaurants, and where we will see the Ambos Mundos hotel and the famous El Floridita bar, where Hemingway used to drink his daiquirí. We will finish our tour in the Central Park with the Capitol, the Grand Theatre and the National Museum of Fine Arts buildings. Farewell to the guide and return to your accommodation on your own. Dinner with the Buena Vista Social Club concert or dinner and show at the famous Tropicana cabaret may be added to the itinerary (additional charge, transportation not included).
