Havana – cars, rum and salsa

After breakfast, a meeting with a local guide and a visit to the Vedado district, where we will see the Coppelia ice cream parlor and have a drink at the legendary Nacional Hotel, visited by celebrities. From here, we will start a tour of the city in an American convertible. We will drive through Malecón – a seaside boulevard that is the showcase of Havana and a meeting place for its residents; the exclusive Miramar district with its Fifth Avenue full of embassies, El Bosque (Havana Forest), Revolution Square and we will reach the viewpoint at the El Morro fortress with a wonderful panorama of the city. Here, we will also discover the secrets of Cuba’s two main exports – rum and cigars (possibility of making purchases). Then we will see the area around the former Presidential Palace, which currently houses the Revolution Museum (from the outside) and have a lunch in the local restaurant. In the afternoon we will walk around Habana Vieja (old town) with its historical squares and places related to Ernest Hemingway: La Bodeguita del Medio bar, Cathedral Square and Arms Square – the place where Havana was founded, with the oldest fortress in the city and the Governor’s Palace. Then we will take a one-hour salsa lesson with Cuban partners near San Francisco Square and we will reach the Old Square with its beautiful colonial architecture. From here we will go to the Obispo street, which has many souvenir shops, bars and restaurants and where we will see the Ambos Mundos hotel and the famous El Floridita bar, where Hemingway drank his daiquirí. Our excursion will end at the Central Park with the Capitol buildings, the Grand Theatre and the National Museum of Fine Arts. We will part with the guide and return to our accommodation independently. The itinerary can be supplemented with a dinner with a concert of Buena Vista Social Club or a dinner and show at the famous Tropicana cabaret (additional fee, transport not included).
